After a whirlwind romance with house music – which culminated in DJing at the world famous Manchester nightclub The Hacienda – Matt turned his attention inwards, hung up his headphones and jetted off to Mysore South India to immerse himself in Ashtanga Yoga. In the 25 plus years of being immersed in Ashtanga Yoga (in both practicing & teaching) Matt has taught yoga all over the world including Europe, India and America. He has set up and established yoga studios in Manchester, London and Los Angeles. He has an A-list private clientele, which includes stars from the music and film industry and also players from the English football premier league.
Matt holds the highly coveted Ashtanga Yoga level 2 teaching authorisation from the AYRI, the governing body of Ashtanga in Mysore, South India. His own personal yoga practice includes working through into the Advanced B series of Ashtanga Yoga – one of the very few yoga practitioners from around the world working at this level. He is an ambassador to the Operation-Shanti charity which is based in Mysore South India, organising fund raising events.
Teacher Georgia Kennedy
Born and bred in Deal, Georgia left home at the age of 17 to become a Nanny in the Netherlands. She always knew she wanted to travel and see the world above anything else. She then started her 7 years of consecutive winter seasons; snowboarding and skiing in France, Switzerland, New Zealand and most recently Canada. She qualified with CASI as a L2 Instructor, as well as her Adaptive Snowsports and Snow Park Certifications. Georgia taught in the some of the most world renowned ski resorts in British Columbia. One thing that has always helped Georgia assist her snowboarding and recovery has been Yoga. Not just for the body but also for a busy mind. It was after returning to Deal in the summer 2024 that she discovered Matt’s studio where her own practice is continuing to develop into the start of the intermediate series. She teaches the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga to beginners, and is looking forward to sharing space and a practice together with you.
